Traffic on Cumberland River is Re-Opened After Barge Accident Knocks Down Power Line

NASHVILLE, TN — River traffic was shut down Thursday, October 3, on the Cumberland River after an electrical line fell into the water due to a barge accident that struck a power line. Boat traffic was re-opened later in the afternoon several hours after the incident.

PORT OF WEST MEMPHIS, Tenn. — An unidentified body found at the Port of West Memphis on Friday, Jan. 18, is believed to be that of missing 60-year old barge captain,  Vernon Bumgarner of Louisiana, who fell overboard near Walls in DeSoto County Wednesday night.
