Coast Guard Rescues Man Who Suffers Heart Attack Aboard the Barge Boaz

NEW ORLEANS, La. — The U.S. Coast Guard issued a release stating that Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector New Orleans received a report at 6:03 a.m. on Saturday, October 12, that a 50-year-old male, aboard the barge Boaz, was reportedly suffering from a cardiac condition. The Boaz transferred the man to a nearby platform.

The incident took place about 10 miles south of the Chandeleur Islands. The Coast Guard sent an MH-65D Dolphin rescue helicopter and crew to the scene after receiving the report.

The crew hoisted the patient and a paramedic off of the platform and transported them to Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans, where the victim was transferred to awaiting emergency medical services.

There are no reports at this time on the man’s condition.
