Man Medevaced From OSV in Gulf of Mexico After Being Struck by Ladder

An injured crewmember of a U.S.-flagged OSV in the Gulf of Mexico had to be medevaced on Wednesday after being hit a 40-foot ladder that reportedly fell on his neck, according to the USCG.

The Coast Guard says the 27-year-old male was aboard the 158-foot OSV Sea Cecile approximately 50 miles south of Main Pass when the the accident occurred.

Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans launched an MH-65C dolphin helicopter and crew and hoisted the man from the deck of the Sea Cecile and transported him to local EMS standing by at the Chevron Venice facility before an ambulance took the man to Ochsner Medical Hospital in Gretna.

The extent of the man’s injuries are so far unknown.

The M/V Sea Cecile is owned and operated by Rockin “D” Marine based out of Larose, La.
