U.S. District Judge Carl Barbier has received a stack of motions from BP asking him to seal testimony and strike evidence in the upcoming Gulf Oil Spill trial scheduled for February 27, 2012. It appears that  BP’s motions to seal testimony and strike evidence is a key part of their defense strategy.

NEW ORLEANS, La. — BP made their latest filing on Monday, Jan 2, in New Orleans federal court reiterating a claim they first made last April that they are entitled to payment from Houston-based contractor Halliburton Energy Services for expenses and lost profits resulting from the 2010 Deepwater Horizon Gulf oil spill disaster.

WASHINGTON — A lawsuit has been filed by Oceana, Defenders of Wildlife, the Natural Resources Defense Council and the Center for Biological Diversity Tuesday, Dec 14, in U.S. District Court in Washington claiming that the federal government failed to take steps to avoid a repeat of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill that occurred in April 2010.
