BALTIMORE, MD. — The Coast Guard reported that a 100 ft tugboat, Kaleen McAllister, sank off Pier 3 in Locust Point on before 10 p.m Saturday night, May 4th.

OCEAN CITY, N.J. — The body of missing Sea Tow boat operator David McAuliffe was found on Wednesday, May 1, in Ocean City. McAuliffe, 34, of Egg Harbor Township, and his boat, the Cape Hatteras, went missing last Tuesday, April 23. The tug boat was recovered on Sunday April 28 and inspected on the following Monday where it was discovered that McAuliffe was no longer on board.

LAFITTE, La. — According to various media reports, a tugboat that was pushing an oil barge hit a gas pipeline in a bayou south of New Orleans Tuesday night, causing a fire that left four people injured, one critically.

ME. — The U.S. Coast Guard released a report to Foster’s Daily Democrat on February 28, 2013, detailing the sinking of the Benjamin Bailey, the tugboat that capsized on October 24, 2012 in Portsmouth. The report cited human error, stating that the captain failed to maneuver the ship into a new position after high tide.

SAUSALITO, CA. — The USCG rescued two people on Saturday, Jan. 26, after their sailboat collided with a tugboat near the Golden Gate Bridge and sank into the San Francisco Bay.

PORTSMOUTH, N.H. — Two crew members were lucky to escape from a sinking tugboat on Wednesday, Oct. 24, when it became pinned against a barge at the Memorial Bridge construction site and capsized. A video of the accident shows the 55-foot boat pinned up against a structure at the Memorial Bridge construction site. A crew member can be seen leaping from the overturned cabin of the ship.
