MIAMI, FL. — According to the U.S. Coast Guard, the cruise ship, Royal Caribbean Grandeur of the Seas, was on its way to Coco Cay, Bahamas, when a fire broke out aboard the ship on Monday, May 27, off the Florida coast.

DESTIN, Fla. — The Coast Guard issued a press release after responding to a report of a tug boat that struck the Brooks Bridge near Highway 98 east of Destin.

PENSACOLA, Florida — Twelve crew members were rescued by aircrews from the U.S. Coast Guard on Friday morning, Jan. 18, after their 170-foot research ship capsized about 141 miles south of Pensacola.

Jacksonville, Fla. – Crowley Maritime Corporation, based in Jacksonville Florida, signed a $250 Million contract with Aker Philadelpha Shipyard for the purchase of two new Jones Act tankers, the Pennsylvania and the Florida, that they had been building on spec since 2011.

NEW ORLEANS, La – Researchers want cleanup workers and volunteers of last year’s BP oil spill to participate in a Gulf study that is looking at the long-term health effects of last year’s Gulf of Mexico oil spill on clean-up workers.

Kenneth Feinberg, the administrator of BP’s $20 billion restitution fund, told Congress on Thursday, Oct 27, that he has has paid out approximately $5.5 billion to more than 213,000 victims of the Gulf of Mexico oil spill that occurred over a year and a half ago.
A bill has moved on to the full Senate for final consideration that would send 80 percent of oil spill fine money to Gulf Coast states.
